Rules and Dates

| Subject Eligibility Artwork will be restricted to depictions of the viewable area of, or a subject from within, one of Alaska’s many State Parks, Marine Parks, Recreation Areas, Historical sites or state managed Preserves, Refuges or Critical Habitat areas.s. No federal land areas or National Parks are eligible. Artist Eligibility All professional and amateur artists of all ages worldwide are eligible to enter this competition. Judging panel members and award sponsors are not eligible to enter. Park Eligibility Check out this PARK LIST. If you don't see a particular park in this list contact us to see if it is eligible. Criteria for Art Judges will be looking for a variety of artistic interpretations, subjects, different parks or sites from locations all across the state. Entries will be evaluated on the artistic merit and the artist’s ability to capture the essence of and appreciation for the chosen subject. Landscape (flora, fauna and geography), wildlife, and/or historic events and elements must be accurately representative of the depicted location. The main subject and/or dominant elements of the artwork must be from within the chosen park. Background or foreground elements may be from outside the park, but these areas must not be the most dominant element of the scene. Content matter is subject to authentication by a representative of the Alaska State Parks. Works must be original and less than 2 years old. A sales commission of 30% is required by the gallery for all artwork sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price. All work that is submitted must be for sale. NO NFS. Judging Judging will be done by a panel of 3. Judges will be selected for their knowledge and expertise on evaluating representational works of two- dimensional art. At least one judge will be knowledgeable on Alaska geography, history, flora and fauna. Format of Artwork Original, two dimensional representational art only. Acceptable mediums are: oils, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, alkyd, tempera, mixed-media, pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink. NO sculpture, photography, prints, or computer generated artwork will be accepted. Size restriction (total square inches) minimum 154 (example 11" x 14") maximum 616 (example 22" x 28") If work is selected it must be professionally framed and ready for gallery hanging with wire. Matting must be neutral. A narrow colored liner is acceptable. Time Line of 2009 Events

Download entry form HERE. Fill out (please print or type) the Entry Form and Notification Form portion.Print out these forms as many times as you need. 2. Photograph (digitally) your unframed (preferably unsigned) artwork. See below acceptable image preparation guidelines. Incude CD of artwork. 3. Include entry fees: $25 for first entry, $10 for each additional entry. No limit on the number of entries. Make checks payable to Alaska Artist Guild. 4. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope which will be used to mail you back your notification of acceptance. 5. Read through Copyright, Sale and Reproduction Rights Agreement on the back of Entry Form. Make sure to sign and date the Entry Form. Mail forms, CD, entry fee and envelope to: Deadline! - Entry form and images must arrive (be in our possecion) by the end of the business day (5:00 PM) August 28, 2009.
